LTZ 1.4T Manual, of course.
Me wanty.
It's weird how the Dragon Green is only on LT and RS models.

LTZ still has rear drums doesn't it?

I think so? I think only RS has rear discs.

I'm not usually a fan of compact cars like these, but I really do like these. Especially in black.

I honestly think this is the most attractive compact car on sale today, hands down.

For a while, you couldn't get the Sonic RS in blue. I asked a GM representative about this publically and got the weirdest response which amounted to "If you want a sonic in blue you have to get it in LTZ or LT trim" and so I ask again why my color choices are limited for spending more money. And again "Well we do offer the sonic in blue in LT and LTZ trims" so finally I bluntly asked "When will you make the RS trim level available in blue?" and got the response of "We currently do not offer the RS trim level with blue paint but buyers can choose between one of many exciting colors on the new sonic RS!"
.......About 6 months later you could get blue on the sonic RS. So try the same tactic and ask why you have color options taken away for spending more money.
EDIT: I just checked the configurator and now no one can get blue........LAME!

But these are cheaaappeeerr. And I like the standard fascias better.
Drum brakes aren't too terrible, until you have to replace the shoes.

I can't find the blue on LTZ any more...
The Sonic's whole trim-level specific color pallet is stupid.

$18,815 for LTZ manual
$21,150 for RS manual.
Not a lot, but there is a difference.

What do you mean you can't get a Sonic in blue?
Oh, wait.

I wanted a sonic RS in blue so I could call it "Sonic the Hatchback" and then at autocrosses I'd play old-school sonic music (genesis, yo) and have a friend in the passenger control some sound effects - ring noise every time I go through a gate, that little skidding noise when the tires were sliding, and the "rings scatter everywhere" noise if I hit a cone.
I'm pretty sure no one would be able to keep a straight face if I rolled up to the line in my blue sonic and this was blasting out of the stereo:

I wouldn't get an LTZ. If you do that, go RS. It's better and only like 1500 more

They must've raised RS prices then, because there's almost a $3,000 gap between the two now.

That happens on lots of cars, and it's maddening.

The GTi is similar. Only red white or black. RS used to be black, grey, white, or red, then they added the white tricoat, green, and blue.
BGM is the bestest

I thought drum brakes were better durability wise.
My van has drum brakes and they've given me half the problems the front discs have.

People pay more than $15k for these things? Jesus Christ...

They're worth more than $15k? It's not an Aveo anymore. It's about 3000x better.

My Abarth was $18k and is has four wheel discs, over 20 more hp, and much better styling (better, wheels, seats...). $21k is way to much to pay for a car like that. That's Fiesta ST territory, and it's a much better car.

That's fine, and I'm not hassling you for it. I just can believe people pay that much for so little. For less money you can get subcompact cars with more horsepower, better suspension, better exhausts, better seats... If you like it more than you'll pay more for it I guess. If I really wanted one I'd bring in the spec sheets for a Fiest ST and an Abarth and tell the sales person they need to drop the price down to what other subcompact cars with under 150 hp and drum brakes are going for, which is about $15k.

Drum brakes last longer and that's about their only advantage. Discs have much less fade, offer much better performance options, and are much easier to change. There is a reason the cheapest cars come with drums. Shit, my friends '93 legacy has four wheel discs.

You can get a sonic for less than $15k, but it won't have any options. Just like you can get a Fiesta for less than $15k.
Once you start going up trim levels, they're gonna go upwards of $20k. And both aren't gonna have more than 140 horsepower. Gotta pay for them toys and features.

Or you can get an Abarth for $18k with 160 hp and every option except leather.

Or I could get a car with useable back seats and is bigger. And looks better IMO.

You mean like a Mazda 3 or a Honda Civic. Those are both bigger, better looking, more powerful, and cheaper than a sonic. Buying a subcompact hatch for the useability of the backseat is absurd, but so is paying $21k for one of these so I guess that makes sense. I have two car seats in the back of my Abarth and they fit great. I think both cars are pretty ugly but at least the Abarth sounds good.

The Civic? Eww...
Anyway a Sonic LTZ with a manual starts at about the same price as a base Mazda3 hatch. I think I'd take the Sonic at that point if I didn't need extra space but wanted some gizmos, although it has to be said the Mazda3 doesn't have much more interior volume than the Sonic at all.
